One field, one game. Eleven on eleven. The purpose: score in the opponent’s goal. Before the kickoff, anything is possible. And yet, as soon as the 90-minute battle begins, the difference between victory and defeat can boil down to just one mistake. Mistakes are unavoidable, but if you can make them all the while keeping the team together, there’s also plenty of room for surprises.
The play tells the tale of the Latvia–Turkey match in Istanbul on November 19, 2003 that ended 2-2. This draw is actually the biggest win in the history of Latvian football to date – it granted the Latvia team its first-ever entry inthe UEFA European football championship finals the following year. How did we get to this historical moment in Latvian football? And what happens when the victory becomes nothing more than a memory?
