What music do you listen to?
What was the song playing during your first kiss?
And your first fight?
“The Festival of Other Songs” is for the rebels of the nineties and the turn of the century. For those who are sick and tired of the overly polished arena music.
“The Festival of Other Songs” is for singing songs that can’t be bought – only passed on. Songs that are loved. Songs that cut you witha knife, disarm you, and demand you to stop faking. Songs for savages. Nay, idealists!
In this performance, the voices of the festival’s grand choir embody the “alternative” and “non-commercial” Latvian music scene from a time when shedding the mainstream was a religion. The musical arrangements for the choir and brass band “Rīga” are composed by Jēkabs Nīmanis, Platons Buravickis, Emīls Zilberts, Oskars Herliņš, Edgars MākEns, and Sabīne Ķezbere.
