A choreographic city walk blending movement, video, and poetic soundscapes to explore urban imagination

EnVisionVALMIERA – UTOPIA SITES is a performative journey through the urban landscape of Valmiera, merging poetic audio, choreographic movement, and speculative video narratives. The audience navigates the area in small groups, guided by performers and mobile technology, discovering alternative perspectives oneveryday spaces.

This choreographic walk invites participants to reimagine the city as a playground of possibility, where creativity and collectivity replace routine andregulation. Set amidst Valmiera’s functional urban spaces—a shopping centre, public streets, and a multi-storey car park—the performance challenges familiar perceptions and uncovers poetic potential in the seemingly ordinary.

Blending analog and digital elements, including pre-recorded soundscapes (featuring the voices of local citizens), live performer actions, and projected shortfilms, the experience offers glimpses of a city momentarily freed from function, open to new ways of living and imagining together.

The journey culminates in a shared moment at sunset in a car park—offering a poetic view into the city’s present and its imagined futures.
